Description

The Blesbok, Damaliscus dorcas phillipsi (or Damaliscus pygargus phillipsi), is a medium-sized antelope restricted to South Africa. It inhabits grassy plains. Males and females both have horns, those of the male being a bit stouter. The name means 'blaze buck', because of their white facial blazes. They have a close relative, the Bontebok, Damaliscus dorcas dorcas (or Damaliscus pygargus dorcas), which is South Africa's rarest antelope, only occurring in the Western Cape. These antelopes are members of the Alcelaphinae, the long-faced antelopes. This is a pencil and pen combo drawing, with digital colouring.
