I'm fairly certain that both are correct. Apparently Felix, or Ferris, Argyle is female in the manga (Or something like that, I don't actually watch anime and I don't read mangas).

From what I understand, Felix decided to embody the femininity of a female superior who had to abandon their own through some military fuckshittery or something. Essentially, he's holding onto their female side while they act the "man" in the organization they're in. (This all gleaned from a youtube video, I haven't watched the anime)

Well having watched the subbed show what's presented is Felix insisting that their friends refer to them as the more feminine 'Felis' though doesn't make any sort of dispute when someone clarifies that they're male. End of the day Felix's gender identity, as with many girly anime characters, is a noncommital shrug that isn't meant to be carefully thought about.

I didn't expect that kind of argument under a nsfw fanart of this character

Oh it wasn't meant to come off argumentative, I just like talking about this kind of stuff.

Nah, Felix/Ferris is a guy, there is nothing that suggests otherwise.

Official word of god clarification and such is a little bit ambiguous, but Ferris' story is VERY transfem, if we're talking comparison to real world.

Yes the implication is certainly there but unfortunately many Japanese creators are flirting with the visuals of feminine presenting males without ever taking the plunge and making these characters truly representative of anything.

Which is fine they're well within their right to do so and these characters popularity and existence beyond the obligatory dick joke is a sign of change for the better, they're just trapped in their own transitionary period (hah)

As for people who find this discussion tiresome and superfluous, try to understand that I don't seek representation in every piece of media, just that when it grazes so close to a personal issue it's hard to keep myself from wanting to discuss it.
