Basically it’s a joke that the marines only accepts idiots, or that only idiots join. The kinds of kids that drank paste and ate crayons in grade school.
There are other stereotypes like the Navy can’t actually swim or they’re all in the closet.
Or in the Army where they’re all alcoholics and fucked in the head in some way making them want to be killers; or are too stupid to think for themselves (though this can be interchanged with the marines also)
And my favorite being the Air Force or Chair Force. Being that they are just nerds that don’t really serve a purpose or actively do anything in the world.
