I guess it all just kinda stemmed from historically foxes are portrayed as sneaky sly and mischievous creatures which translated into promiscuity and combined with their lithe frame compared to other animals which gives the impression of the stereotypical twink body frame, the "bottom" of the gay food chain, and voila you have slutty foxes as the analog to the slutty twink stereotype

I think it stems more from early furry RP and MUCKs. Foxes have distinct markings and big tails - they're fun to draw and look at which is more important in visualization than animal social features. Players gave them sexually attractive features because people want to feel attractive and it usually helps get a partner if you want to get off. Hell, the connection of furries, foxes, and fucking lead to dubbing it "yiff".
