Fruit of Love

by Dark Violet

You never thought it would be like this. You never thought it would be so... wonderful.

You know, you never quite wanted kids, did you? Loud and expensive, and when they grow up they'll crash your car and call you at three in the morning asking for a ride home. Nah - not for you.

But now? It's... different.

Well, it wasn't exactly planned either, was it? You didn't spare it a thought until her belly hung rather low one day. And that night, while the two of you rolled around in bed, her legs in the air, staring into each other's eyes as pleasure mounted - you grasped at her belly, rubbing her teats, only for her to twitch and whine under your caresses. Could it be...?

"Your Lycanroc is pregnant!" they'd said.

My wife is pregnant, you'd heard. I'm going to be a father.

Damn. Pokémon were versatile, their DNA almost impatient in its will to mutate and adapt. This was no more farfetched than Pokémon evolution, you admit, but still...

The shock eventually wore off. And when it did, so did that attitude. Because this isn't some distant, detached prospect anymore - it's something born from your love, a love so deep you defied conventions to marry outside your own species. This won't be a child - it will be your child. From both of you. Finally, you will truly be a family...

...However many will be in the litter.

I wonder if the offspring will follow normal breeding rules, and be rockruffs.

Idk, in a lot of the fanfiction lately theres a trend of the offspring being mostly the mothers species, but with small differences: like 5 digits instead of pokemons typical three, sometimes hair, or at least fur on the head that grows longer than normal, they sometimes are a paler color, or even the fir takes on the color of the fathers hair, etc.

If nothing else its a nice thought excersize. :3

    What are you confused about?

Did... did the author imply abortion by writing "litter"? My association with litter is throwing out some garbage/burdensome people. Or the author meant "litter box"? In the second case I didn't know that litter boxes are used for keeping cubs.

Litter in the context of animals means “the group of young animals born to a parent animal at one time.”
Examples are a litter of pups or a litter of kittens. All the offspring in the litter, or brood, are siblings. The next time the parent bears another batch of babies, that is considered the next litter.
Worry not, this man loves his pups way too much to do any bad things. It would contradict his previous wording after all.

Ok, thanks for clarification. It seems the dictionary I checked was not good enough.

  • Would love to breed my own feline or canine, female lovelies. I never see offspring artworks, on E621, though. It's sad that I can't find artworks with half-human, half-other-species artworks.
