Jokes aside, it honestly feels nice to know I was missed in my short leave of absence: it makes me happy that I left a positive impact on so many people. As you can tell, I did manage to get into contact with the moderators about the most recent flag, and after some discussion it turned out favorably. I'll keep it at that in case I end up rocking the boat any further, and I'll try a bit harder now to stay out of trouble :P. That aside, big thank you to blitzdrachin for the art piece, I couldn't ask for more. Glad to know you enjoy my comments, ya big meme.

  • You know, maybe not so long times ago, Millie did many good things to the site. But now as i can see, in opposite, Millie showing herself as a litteral imbecile and just pretending to be a useful mod. I just simple don't understand why others is still tolerate it.

Tbh I blame the lack of specifics and communication about the rp rules between the staff xd
There are times I fill a bunch of tickets and she takes fast good actions in most of times.

Also no need to be that rude :p

  • It was a misinterpretation of the Creepy Comments rule. The rule that was only recently updated to clearly show changes in enforcement.

We don't expect staff to be perfect, no matter how long they've been here. Communities and policies change over time - it's a continuous learning experience.

Over time, ideally, we get better at calling the shots in grey-areas.

We miss shots sometimes and we talk it over. We learn, we get over it, we move on with new knowledge under our belts.

This wasn't done out of PR backlash. It was just an honest misunderstanding, and we're talking to each other more because of it.

Consider policies elsewhere - like Jagex and its Runescape Official Forums - about never publicly discussing mod actions. I've been on the receiving end of that bullshit.

A more universal experience might be a random Discord server where you've:

    • seen,
    • dished out,
    • or been on the receiving end of,

unfair administration with no way of appealing it.

I feel like it's taken for granted that we're talking about this.

Seeing Jagex get mentioned makes me rather mad. I spent a lot of time working with mods on PvM and other related areas within OSRS and a bit of RS3 several years back and some of their decisions were borderline brain-dead. Perhaps my favourite example involved Classix, and this occurred within the game and did leak briefly into the forums... he was awarded p-mod status for his upstanding work within the community at the time, and then immediately had it revoked because he jokingly said "fuck you" (which has long been established as being perfectly fine within the community, especially amongst friends, and this was also before they addressed the massive racist and violent language used within the PvP clans) within the clan chat when all of us were screwing around and literally asked him to say it so we could all report him. Meanwhile, there was about a half-dozen examples of a p-mod abusing his/her status to advertise gold-buying/selling websites, account selling, etc. and nothing was ever done to them. Jagex's response was literally the "never publicly disclose mod actions" nonsense. I get it in the case of Mod Jed and Mod Infinity for legal reasons, but given the lack of professionalism exhibited by Jagex quite often, all it served to do was piss me off. I still love the dev team immensely (Mod Ash, Mod Ghost, and Mod Kieran come to mind) but their moderation team is absolutely horrible. Perhaps I should make a distinction too now that Mod Aiza is their PR lead again iirc (I have had many positive experiences with him personally) but overall it is really stunning that such a successful company can have such a horrid moderation and forum experience. Hell, I've a few friends who frequented the RS forums way more than I did and we regularly chat on Discord about some of the ridiculous occurrences that popped up over the years...

That aside, I'm glad you and the other admins are willing to discuss and repeal moderation action that was deemed excessive or done mistakenly. I've personally felt like the application of the "creepy comments" rule is sometimes used in haste or improperly and that has given me a somewhat paranoid view of how moderation works on this site, but I am grateful and relieved that there is a degree of introspection and review that-- as you mentioned-- does not always exist in many other forums and sites. I think in this case, the outcome is now to everyone's liking since it has been resolved.

Anyhow, that's just my 2 cents.

I honestly don't believe that this is a fair judgement, considering all the responsibilities Millcore has and the burden it must put on her: she's only human and might make a mistake every once in a while. I don't think its good to jump to that conclusion if we don't know what her side of the story is.

While I appreciate that the mods took this issue seriously and understand that even site staff might make mistakes, I do just want to make a correction: The rule I was flagged for was the Role-Play rule, and there is a stipulation in that rule that states that if a comment creates humor, it should be considered acceptable. This was essentially my main argument against the ban.

Believe me, I've seen my fair share of unfair moderating (*cough cough* many Reddit and War Thunder forum mods *cough cough*) and I'm glad that I wasn't just completely ignored or treated unfairly as some of those other places. That being said, I don't think it's a good idea to compare the moderators here some of the worst of the bunch the internet generally experiences. A moderator, with the authority they wield, should by default be using that power responsibly, and I don't think using the Runescape forum mods as the baseline for what administration should be doing would be a fair comparison. I really don't mean that to sound contentious, but I have been on forums with really good people in high positions (mostly school clubs, but there are a few subreddits with in, my experience, very fair moderators), so I have decent idea of both sides of that coin. I suppose in the end it's best to say that it's nice that the current administration is trying to act fairly and actually consider the arguments of its users, rather than just sweep them under the rug because they know they have the power to do so. Sympathy for the average user and rational judgement is what sets a good administration apart from a bad one, and I'm glad this site's moderators are choosing to be one of the better kind. It gives me hope that this site will be a more hospitable place for everyone in the future, because I truly enjoy being here and want to see this place succeed at keeping the furry art community happy.

Lol, that was definitly almost the same thing that i said to mods when i got grey bar for "roleplay" But i was just completely ignored without any constructve discussion, like'a "tis just a grey bar, so go annoy anywhere else and take away all your arguments with you"
Some months have past, and now you got ban for making jokes

To be honest, e6 mods aren't even the worst and this specific mod team isn't even the worst. It used to be a lot more unruly back when Aureli was still mod (I wasn't here when that was the case but seeing his records and some ban reasons he gave to some long banned users, I can only imagine how wild it was back in the late 00s/early 10s) and while I definitely think there's room for improvement regarding the rule about getting neutral/negative records for "trolling", I've seen SO MUCH WORSE when it comes to admining. Reddit is a good example, but Facebook "moderation" also springs to mind. Of course, there's also examples of good moderation like Newgrounds, but that's a different site entirely.

At least here you can directly speak to the admins, janitors and so on and solve conflicts like this, which is a rarity from the automated bots and Indian callcenter workers doing the grunt work in much larger companies and sites. The system e6 has, as dysfunctional as it may be sometimes, should not change as it is vital to the functionality and improvement in the long run. This was shown a few months back when the new e6 lay-out was rolled out.

Its been more than 6 months since you got that record, you can ask a mod to remove it.

Noone needs to use that word especially considering it's original intention was an insult to one's intelligence and then turned into a racial slur. Calling it a "birthright" is discrimination. Not to mention just saying it here of all places... top tier cringe bro. There are many reasonable not-as-cringe alternatives i.e. Dude, bruh, brev, guy, studmuffin, hotstuff etc.

Edit: yes, let the hate flow through you. Your downvotes give me strength, or somethin idk.

They're trying to keep toxicity, roleplay and creepy comments to a minimum, this is an art archive and they would prefer it if we stayed "on topic", and didnt act cringe. Sometimes they get the wrong people and thats to be expected. Thats the problem with being a mod, sometimes you gotta make a decision at the risk of it being the wrong one or deal with the fact that you are going to hurt someone's feelings.
