Herodotus's lost account

"...it is such there in that kingdom that the royal steeds are not merely beasts to be ridden by men, but in fact are horse men through and through. They are tall, strong, brutes, used mostly as warriors. Their appetite for food is extraordinary, but their sexual appetite mores as their copiously generated seed holds ample capacity to bear offspring with humans. It is considered an honor for such a coupling to happen, though the horse mens girth and length in their nether parts is such that it may be difficult and perhaps dangerous. A quick way for a slave girl to gain in prestige is to mate with one of the males, and while it's frowned upon even proper women are known to desire bedding with the brutes. Often the horsemen behave as barbarians and mate with who they wish, and typically try to raise a fight to get through the day. Their rampages of plunder, rape, and general malfeasance are reasons why the king keeps them busy, using them on neighboring realms in war, or at peace being unleashed upon towns with rampant tax evasion. Oddly enough, some silly, deviants (especially maidens in places where there are no men to marry or even sleep with), seem to delight at their presence in their community, even with the inherent dangers from their man parts. More than a few farmer lasses have been known to have willfully gotten in their paths, sometimes nude or scantily clad, knowing that their offerings are ones these beasts are simply incapable of resisting..."
