He's using a different style of shading than his usual on a lot of this picture, I think that's why it looks off. His shading transitions from light to dark are usually pretty sharp with quick or even no gradients. But here, the shadow gradients are almost all completely soft with no perfect edges outside of a few areas; inside Nat's clavicle and the shorts shadow on the left leg for example. Compare to Keith's shorts creating no shadow on his leg or inside the fold and it does come across as only half rendered.
