Quick Test

Posting this to scraps 'cause it's just a quick test of an idea I had. I'm not fond of the way my full background washes have been coming out on refs, it's tricky to get in and out of all the small cracks quickly enough so I tend to get a lot of bleeding and tide lines and other icky things I'm not fond of.

I'm considering doing something like this on refs, just sort of a halo of colour on the outside of the image, leaving the centre mostly white. It allows a nice balance between having colour on the image but not interfering with the colours on the character as much. At the same time, while it's not really any less work, it's a lot more manageable so I can come up with results I like more.

But, I'll leave it up to whoever ends up commissioning me for ref sheets whether they like it or not. This was just a quick test to see how the effect might work out.

I decided to have the character doing something a little more 'interesting' though. A bit more fun to look at than someone just standing there, I hope. :P
