Nogard's Visual Novel has been out for a while, figured I'd get to post it, too! I don't think e621 can work with games, but I'll link here the itchio page for you guys to play it, and Noggie's FA post has the links to download it, if you're so inclined!!

Please give Noggie some love for working on this project! I provided the art some time ago, so it's not the most up to date, so hopefuly that's OK! It's a fun lil' gay VN experience, hope you guys like it!!

  • Alright, here's a spoiler guide for people like me with a low tolerance level for visual novel BS. Fortunately this one is friendlier than most and actually lets you see what the current values of the variables are, but there are still some rather evil requirements in there.

    How to get all achievements

Mutual affection: Tree -> "Pretend to slip." -> "Stay where you are and see what Treecko does." (requires Relationship >= 75)
Get a facial: Tree -> "Raise your tails to tease your friend and keep climbing." -> "Lean back, letting your member poke out even more." -> "Ask for a hand job." (requires Relationship >= 75 and Your lust >= 5)
Close call (option 1): Flower patch -> "Nap" -> "Cuddle up to Treecko from behind" -> "Try to ignore it and go back to sleep" -> "Take care of yourself" (requires Relationship >= 50 and Your lust >= 5)
Close call (option 2): Pond -> "Relax on the edge of the water" -> "Stay where you are and let the naughty thoughts keep coming" -> "Take a chance and keep going" (requires Your lust >= 5)
Spicy dream: Flower patch -> "Nap" -> "Cuddle up to Treecko front to front" -> "Give him some more stimulation" (requires Relationship >= 75, Treecko's lust >= 5 and Your lust < 5)
Forge a bond: Flower patch -> "Talk" (you have to do this at least 3 times and the last time requires Relationship >= 150)
Use those tails: Pond -> "Jump in the water and swim around" -> "Let him ride on your back" -> "Flip over on your back and have some special fun" (requires 75 <= Relationship < 100)
Voyeurism: Sand -> "Look at the clouds" -> "Go looking for him" (requires Treecko's lust >= 5)

    Other tips and tricks

The game means it when it tells you to focus on building your Relationship points first. You'll get nowhere otherwise.

Meaningful scenario changes happen at 25-point intervals in the Relationship value, with the highest requirement being 100 except for one achievement which requires 150. A Relationship score of 25 allows you to do exactly three extra things: add naughty bits to the sand statue, and lift your tails or sit on Treecko's face when climbing the tree. All lewd scenes require at least 50, 75 or 100.

You and Treecko get 2 bonus lust points at the start of each day. If you have at least 125 Relationship points, both scores are clamped to a minimum of 3. Spend them wisely.

Lust resets to 0 every time the associated character has an orgasm. There is no other way to reduce lust. Scenario changes occur when lust reaches 5, with different scenarios becoming available depending on who is horny or if you both are. Note that if your partner's lust reaches 5, he might start having orgasms without your permission. This is particularly annoying because one of the achievements requires your partner to be above the threshold but you to be below it.

There is no other point to having orgasms. The game never reads those orgasm counters.

There are only two ways to increase your Relationship by more than 5 points before you have at least 50 points: talk to Treecko at the flower patch at least twice (first time gets you 5 points, subsequent times give 10) or feed him a Lust Berry without eating one yourself, then refuse to touch him (for some reason this continues to give 10 points even after he's well aware of what those berries do). In other words, don't expect anything exciting to happen before day 3.

Handy early game shortcut: eat a Lust Berry without giving one to Treecko, resist the urge to jack off, then go sit by the pond and cum in the water while he's asleep. This is the quickest way to get "Close call", and it gives Treecko 1 lust point (hard to come by early game) so can help set up Voyeurism later. Unfortunately it doesn't work if you have at least 50 Relationship points.

As tempting as it may be, there is never any Relationship benefit to both eating the Lust Berries.

Don't try to kiss Treecko before 75 Relationship points, or you'll never be allowed to kiss him again.

The single worst choice in the game is "Give it your all anyway" during the battle. Not only does it knock off 10 Relationship points no matter how many you had, it's the only choice that completely skips the rest of the day.

If your Relationship ever goes below -15, it's game over.

Impressive! Did you look at the game code for all of that? I know Ren'Py doesn't have a good way of encrypting code, but I didn't really mind if people perused through it.

Yep. Although I believe (I have some experience with Python, but not Ren'Py), if you wanted to keep prying eyes out of your secrets, you could delete all the *.rpy files while leaving the *.rpyc files.

By the way, the crash bug which the change log claims has been fixed has not in fact been fixed. Offering to compare sizes in the tree still throws an unknown variable exception.

Yeah, there were actually 2 bugs in that section (just typos of me forgetting to add an s to a variable name), and I fixed the first one thinking that I had it, but didn't know about the second one. I was gonna fix that tomorrow and post the new version then.
