  • Now the bigger question is, now what? Her soul is in Maren's body now, and where is Maren's soul? How are they gonna fix that?

Well, this paints Detritus in a whole different light...

It makes sense he was created for a singular purpose supposedly from either an artificial copy or part of Traces soul.
What better way to make sure it gets the job done then to have him be emotionally invested.

  • I'm guessing that Laura uses this opportunity to say goodbye to Trace, give Flora and the baby her blessing, and quite possibly escort Roselyn out of this world and into the other side. I'd HATE to see Rose go at all, but if Toms going to kill her off, this would be the way to do it, IMHO.

One possibility is that the two will "share", with Maren being the primary body/soul active, while Saria simply provides a sort of counterbalance (her kind, gentle, and warm personality helping to offset Karen's acquired cynicism, sharp tongue, and cool personality). Think of it as how Trace has Templar Trace as a sort of vestige. Trace is the main soul, but Templar is there as a voice of darkness. Saria would be the same for Maren, but the voice of light. The one who's aware of her budding interest in Sythe, and tells her that "he seems nice. Kind, sweet, kinda dorky. You should give him a chance"

IDK, they're completely different persons. Trace has a split personality due to messing with dark magic and the Masks interference. Natani is the closest to what you said, as her soul is like a broken jar; they used Zen's soul to fill the gaps and keep it together. And you saw all the issues it caused to Natani until she was able to accept her new self. There's no need for Maren to ho through that. Neither for Saria to hang around the living any longer. This whole arc was about letting go of the past.

  • Hopefully Maria will live inside Maren body.
If anything it should be because it would make Maren actually interesting character.

I mean Maren went from "we'll get you back to your Keidran hating self!" In chapter one to almost banging Scythe now, she has an arc it's just in the background compared to virtually everyone else.

In this case, as the two are an incomplete transfer, it's likely that Saria will be present, but mostly just act as a sort of advisor/conscience (occasionally chiming in with a bit of insight into a situation, or to chide Maren slightly). Plus, unlike Zen and Natani, there's SIGNIFICANTLY less issue (as Maren was chosen specifically because of her resemblance to Saria), so the two may end up balancing each other out (Maren tempering Saria's kindness and all-loving streak with a more worldly view, even as Saria helps Maren get better with things like letting people in and being a bit less jaded)

Or remember that spell that "resurected" Laura? This might be a similar thing where it isn't actually Saria but a magical recreation of her based on Trace's memories. Might be just as temporary.

Possible, though this one isn't exactly the same. This looks more like Trace housed her soul inside a vessel, and was planning to transplant it. Due to it being only partial, it may be that Maren inherits some of Saria (from what we're seeing, the part of her that was eternally the kind, compassionate woman, willing to forgive even the ones who had done wrong). It's not enough that Saria can entirely take hold, or even enough to be really an influence, beyond being the voice in Maren's head.
