April 10th: The bill has been vetoed!
April 2nd: The politicians in Arizona are about to sign into law a bill that would mandate sites like e621 to either impose age verification on all users or be at a risk of lawsuits. Such system would be required to go through third party vendors, who in turn must go through a government database to verify every user's age. This is not only a major violation of privacy, but it also opens up a very real danger of identity theft through phishing schemes and other methods, not to mention that we would not be able to control any of that information to make sure it is permanently deleted after age verification is complete.
Unfortunately, Arizona is the state out of which e621 operates, which means that this law will almost certainly affect us if it is to pass. If want to help us ensure that this site can continue to serve you without being required to know who you are, please ask the Arizona governor to veto this bill.
Please, help us get the word out by letting others know about this issue.
For some further information on what the bill does have a look at https://action.freespeechcoalition.com/bill/arizona-hb-2586/
We still have a Discord server, come talk to us!

MemberThe general consensus on controversial pics like this is: If you don't like it, you don't speak. And if you need to speak up for some reason, try to keep it funny instead of just spitting sulfur.
The guy at the top, NSFW Alt Acc? That's just spitting sulfur. TheGirlWhoSimps right above? That's at least respectful to the artist.
You yourself? I agree with your sentiment, but there are better ways to express displeasure than the guy on top...
And with all that said, I shall resume my quest for fap material. Thanks for stopping by my TED talk, and goodbye!

MemberA general rule of this site is: if you make a bad comment (bad as in hating/disliking the post) about the post you get down voted. Unless the post universally disliked by everyone.
I understand LGD being controversial like non-con, NTR, or bestiality (exception in e621), but Nelljoestar's works are just too liked.
Tldr: if a post have positive like rating, bad comments get down votes.

MemberI thought they either just hated the character, or hated the content. I didn’t want to assume they were one of those people who refuses to blacklist things, so I went with the former.
But yeah stuff like this gets an absolute ton of hate, even when it states/is obvious that the people behind it aren’t homophobic, don’t support homophobia or are even queer themselves like me.
It doesn’t even have anything to do with homophobia since the fetish isn’t about hatred towards a certain sexuality, it’s about the fantasy of being forced into one your not, which we acknowledge as bad in real life, but this is fantasy.
The funny thing is that a lot of the hate comes from people who also have morbid fantasies like non-con, beastiality and ect, which also aren’t okay in real life, but enjoyed strictly as a fantasy just like us.
I hate the label of “homophobia fetish”. It’s just some weird form of embarrassment fetish for me.

MemberPretty much, like my hatred used to stem from the simple fact of being sexually used by a woman to turn me straight, landing me with a child that I will always love and protect, yet to also an individual that can’t leave me alone as she’s still wondering if I’m going through the “gay phase.” And when will I man up to raise our kid together, and not co-parent. The posts aren’t the issue as they’re fiction themselves, and as you said, the artist doesn’t support and or condone any actions within the art in a real life standpoint.
Don’t get me wrong, some of the gay_to_straight posts are terrible, yet overall they’re just fiction. One that many can tune out, unlike the chick obsessed with me.

MemberI do enjoy this artists work, but yeah, especially the lack of actual lesbian content within their art even though many of their female characters are lesbian.. and the fact that them being lesbian is pronounced in almost every piece of art they are in. (coming from a lesbian btw)

MemberThere's a myriad of possible reasons for a lack of actual lesbian art from Nell, not least of which being that just as people can be into fictional acts that would be morally wrong even if they rightfully loathe those same actions IRL, they can also have no interest in morally upright or neutral actions in fiction that they are very into IRL. I've run into this myself many times with people I've met, and indeed I am like this myself. As an example, IRL I'm a huge fan of tomboyish women, but my interest in fictional tomboys is muted at best. I much prefer voluptuous women in fiction. This can even be the case with sexual art as a whole. I've seen more than one artist who has no romantic or sexual attraction to anyone at all IRL (asexual) who gets very much into some of the raunchiest porn art I've ever seen and absolutely gets hot and bothered by it. One's like of fiction is a completely different universe from one's likes in reality, and in some ways this can actually mean that your IRL interests are LESS limited than your fictional ones, not more.
As for the specific use of spelling out a character's sexuality, well, the removal of any doubt is often part of the fetish. This isn't limited to non-consensual orientation play, or even orientation play as a whole. Incest art, for example, nearly always spells out that the people involved are related by blood, despite the fact that you CAN actually tell if people are related by appearance, albeit not with 100% accuracy. The confirmation that this isn't some AU where the character is straight or bi, much like incest that eliminates the possibility that two people merely look similar, has a way of activating the almonds of those interested in the fetish. Lesbian pride flags and mentioning having a girlfriend are just useful ways of doing this without always relying on the character actually saying "I'm lesbian," which probably gets old really quick no matter how much you like the fetish.

MemberThe lack of their lesbian characters shown being lesbian does a disservice to the kink too. If you remove the pride clothing it's just straight art since you wouldn't know they are gay. Adding more lesbian content even if just buildup to the orientation play stuff would make the whole thing work better. Also girl/girl and girl/girl/guy is hot too.
