Even with a dummy round, this still violates basic gun safety rules (always treat it as if it's loaded!).

That's why drawings exist, though--so that things that aren't possible or safe IRL can be enjoyed without issue.

best way to do this "safely" is to chamber load a bore sight and keep the laser on, such that seeing the dot guarantees it is currently inert
