April 10th: The bill has been vetoed!
April 2nd: The politicians in Arizona are about to sign into law a bill that would mandate sites like e621 to either impose age verification on all users or be at a risk of lawsuits. Such system would be required to go through third party vendors, who in turn must go through a government database to verify every user's age. This is not only a major violation of privacy, but it also opens up a very real danger of identity theft through phishing schemes and other methods, not to mention that we would not be able to control any of that information to make sure it is permanently deleted after age verification is complete.
Unfortunately, Arizona is the state out of which e621 operates, which means that this law will almost certainly affect us if it is to pass. If want to help us ensure that this site can continue to serve you without being required to know who you are, please ask the Arizona governor to veto this bill.
Please, help us get the word out by letting others know about this issue.
For some further information on what the bill does have a look at https://action.freespeechcoalition.com/bill/arizona-hb-2586/
We still have a Discord server, come talk to us!

Memberi’m pretty sure esix only cares if the artist is currently a minor/adult. the artist is an adult now, so it’s allowed
jebbyio
Memberthen blacklist this post or the artist. i’m just going by esix’s rules

MemberIf a 15 year old drew this I'm impressed and I would wanna see more and listen this is good art so shut up?
Gaze
MemberI never mentioned the quality of the art, and the quality is irrelevant. A highschool freshman drew this porn. People deserve to know that.

Memberdude the artist is an adult now, it's not like it's a picture of the artist when they were 15, get over it already, ifnyou still don't like it just blaclist it already and go away
Gaze
MemberThe fact that they are an adult now doesn't change the fact that they weren't an adult when this pic was drawn. This is a drawing of sex as seen through the eyes of a child. The artist's self-insert character here is the self-insert of a child.
I think people should know that fact before they jerk off to this piece.

AdminActually, for legal reasons we do have to delete any content created by a minor, even if they’re an adult now. That said, we won’t take any actions without proof.
Ok, do you have any proof?

PrivilegedHow the hell is this not tagged young? I mean he's at least as young as a teenager (TWYS) considering they're both the same species. :/

Here's the Twitter thread with screenshots.
Two years ago he said he was 25 on his bio, was actually born in 2004 and was 16 at the time this art was made.

PrivilegedLet me guess - screen shots and not original posts isn't good enough since anyone can edit them. Sigh...

MemberIf that's how he wants to express himself why should he not be allowed to share it who cares and let's be honest most teens know what sex is by 14
Gaze
MemberWhether or not teens know what sex is isn't what this is about.
It's against the law to supply porn to a minor, and it's against the terms of service of virtually every website for minors to be in 18+ spaces. It's creates legal risk for everyone involved, especially when the teen is drawing their own sona in sexual situations.
Also, the person with cub pfp trying to argue on the side of allowing minors to create and share porn is really telling.
Gaze
MemberIt's been a few months, and it's still here.
Is there a better way to report an issue like this?
scaliespe
AdminSorry, I don't check my comment replies very often. I handled it, but normally you would just report the post for the best results. "Report" button on the left side of the page.
Gaze
MemberI would have, but none of the report categories apply to this situation, and the report page says I will be disciplined if I abuse the system. Picking a random category to force a moderator to look at my complaint seems like abuse of the system to me.
Which of these should I have picked?
- Rating Abuse
- Malicious File
- Malicious Source
- Description Abuse
- Note Abuse
- Tagging Abuse

AdminThe “technically correct” answer to your question is actually to flag the post with the “does not meet uploading guidelines” reason. However, that particular flag reason is only available on approved posts to privileged accounts due to it being abused by regular users too often. So, there’s not really any good option at the moment so I’d really just say “pick anything,” either a flag or a report. That puts it into “the system” where someone then has to handle it one way or another, even if the reason is technically incorrect. As long as there’s a valid reason for deleting the post, it doesn’t count as “abuse of the system” - we reserve that for people flagging/reporting stuff for completely invalid reasons, like because the post contains some fetish that they don’t want to see.
Not that I expected you to know any of that. In reality, we (the staff team, internally) have recently been discussing the possibility of adding an “underage artist” or similar flag reason specifically for cases like this. It just doesn’t come up very often, so there hasn’t been much demand for it. Most people just make a report with a random reason when it does need to be handled. So for now, just pick any option and hopefully we’ll have a proper way to deal with these in the future.
