  • I think people could just take a look at the source to be honest... You don't have to add the source at the comment field as well

i usually do that when i'm not entirely sure if the artist wants the picture spread around. i figure the least i could do is link to the top of their site.

  • ^Is that also the reason why you didn't bother to add more than one tag?

I dare you to say, "I didn't have the time, even though I had time to post a link to the artist's website <em>and</em> respond to another comment."

    you dare me? grow up.

i only put tag's i'm sure i know i'll get right. since 99% of the pictures on here have many many more tags than i would ever know to add (characters, etc) i just link to the place i got the picture if i'm unsure.

So... why is it we have a blind man posting images?

  • You're saying...you weren't 99% sure this was solo, a female, and that the character's name was Tyra, even though it's in the copyright info?

I'm gonna have to go with Asrayl and assume you're blind.

you'd rather have someone not post pictures than have them do it without tagging every little thing? get over it.

you can assume whatever you want. i'm just trying to give back to the forum and put up pictures i haven't seen on here. if you want to get all in a snit about not having things tagged you can go right along and have a fit about it. doesn't bother me.

it's more about trying to grow the forum, IMO.

but if you need to make it about you and feeling snubbed because i didn't spend time combing over the picture to but 50 tags on it, that's your business. personally, i think the majority of the tags are a waste of time anyways. who does such specific searches that we need a "blue eye" or "short hair" tag?

  • ^Your argument is irrelevant since I'm neither having a fit nor am I asking you to add 50 tags. As you see, I added 4 additional tags that would make the image <em>findable</em> and it only took me about 10 seconds to do.

Perhaps we got off on the wrong foot, though, allow me to just take everything back and start over:

This is an image archive. It is not a forum or an image-board with an organized structure. It's just a list of art from newest-to-oldest, assuming lack of commentary.

If you post an image without tags, (or in this case, one tag) you may as well have not posted at all; No one will ever be able to find what you posted, and chances are someone will then unknowingly repost it, thus negating the "giving back to the forum" effect you were going for.

This whole site is upheld by tagging, so if you don't do it, <em>someone else will have to</em>. Do you see how this could be annoying to people?

i disagree with you there. you've got more than 3 times the tag changes than uploads, and i've got twice as many. clearly there are people who change tags as they browse the pictures.

in fact, i'll bet that the majority of users here do more viewing and tagging than they do uploading (the fact that i've got twice as many uploads as you is evidence of that). so i am wholly confident that anyone posting pictures here is a good thing, even if they don't tag properly, because there is an army of lurkers on the board that are tagging.

in may not be a perfect system, but the fact is i really don't care much about tagging. so i'm willing to spend some time finding pictures, and putting up the minimal tag to let other users find more from the artist, and be on my way... but other than that i'm not too worried about things.

  • Uhh... how about he posts pictures, you tag them. And the people who just want to see them win.

In the time it took to yell at him to tag, it could have been tagged. And the time it took him to respond, he could have put up more pictures.

Just do what you do, its worked so far.

  • You might disagree, but the fact of the matter is, no one wants to do your job for you. Like I said, it's <em>inevitable</em> that a picture must be tagged, so yes, someone <em>will</em> do it eventually. They will also likely complain that the OP didn't do it to begin with.

Time constraints are pointless to discuss. It takes 10 seconds to add a few relevant tags. I may not have posted much, but I tagged all of it. That is definitely <em>not</em> distracting from your ability to post more content.

I'm not sure why this is even up for discussion. It's so simple and easy...

  • This drama is pathetic. This putz is spending the time to upload an image but he won't take an extra minute to put down ten things to categorize it with.

"Oh but I don't like tagging, I'm just going to be lazy and let someone else do it for me!" ... I wonder if he's just as inconsiderate about every other aspect of his life.
