You know, it's not that simple. It's logical that they could not just stop, because in their ego/mind it's too worthy doing it, or giving up the right to their dping and their opinions would be too painful.

Who says they don't? When riding a horse with the view of the mane, few people can resist running fingers through it once in a while or giving them a pat or little rub on the neck. Their ears are cute too, but you can't easily reach them from the saddle and not all horses like to have them touched.
