But as he stood there by the windowsill, he gazed up at the clouds above him.
He knew they were watching him, all of them. They were silent. They were lost for words, lost for actions. Not a cloud moved, not a gust of wind dared to shake his frame. Even the moon itself stood stagnant in the sky. People who’d expected the sun to rise stood outside of their homes in awe, bewildered.
Death got up, unsteady on his feet, standing on the golden window frame.
He and Puss had successfully silenced the gods.
Death flipped his middle fingers up to the sky.
