A lot of peoples' days just got a tad busier
April 10th: The bill has been vetoed!
April 2nd: The politicians in Arizona are about to sign into law a bill that would mandate sites like e621 to either impose age verification on all users or be at a risk of lawsuits. Such system would be required to go through third party vendors, who in turn must go through a government database to verify every user's age. This is not only a major violation of privacy, but it also opens up a very real danger of identity theft through phishing schemes and other methods, not to mention that we would not be able to control any of that information to make sure it is permanently deleted after age verification is complete.
Unfortunately, Arizona is the state out of which e621 operates, which means that this law will almost certainly affect us if it is to pass. If want to help us ensure that this site can continue to serve you without being required to know who you are, please ask the Arizona governor to veto this bill.
Please, help us get the word out by letting others know about this issue.
For some further information on what the bill does have a look at https://action.freespeechcoalition.com/bill/arizona-hb-2586/
We still have a Discord server, come talk to us!

BlockedIf the training (or lack thereof) that Kalgkur got is typical, I'm surprised (and skeptical) that this hasn't happened before.
I'm also surprised that the Trademaster didn't take this into consideration when assigning Baxxids as guards.
Guards who can butcher people by accident are a problem.
Strofluff
MemberThief lost his arm (and got his guts spilled in one motion) just like the ancient law dictates.
Nell is just the awe-struck how swiftly was the law delivered
DirtyDeed
MemberIt was addressed a few pages ago. It was initially a problem. But thieves wised up. This is just a combination of it's been so long since the last incident, and this particular thief was That stupid.
KTS
MemberIt's all the thiefs fault anyways. He tried to steal infront of a guard.
HiddenOracle
MemberOhhhh that’s…..that’s……thassalotta blood. Ummmm………Now I’m kinda worried about Kalgkur. I think the punishment any judicial body gives him is gonna pale in comparison to the one he gives himself.
OldRecordplayer
MemberShe looks surprised, but not terribly afraid. Since she's been watching him for a long time she probably knows he's typically really shy and awkward.

Memberlmao rip that bozo packwatch
hopefully everything goes well for kalgkur

BlockedI doubt Kalgkur is in trouble with the Trademaster--the latter doesn't seem the type to care overmuch about the life of a petty - and stupid - thief. He's much more concerned with relations with the Baxxid.
Now, Kalgkur might be in trouble with his kin for showing humans how deadly Baxxid can be, but given how wise the Baxxid generally are, I don't know that they'd punish him beyond the guilt and shame he already feels.
Which is to say, I agree with you.

PrivilegedHave there been any baxxid in the guard rotation in the past, though? So far we've only seen one non-human guard, and while she's visibly bigger than the rest of the crowd, she's still humanoid, so not completely out of the norm for human team training.
chestercat
MemberI suspect so.

PrivilegedYeah, I realized I goofed about 5 minutes after posting, but couldn't correct it in time.
BlueMoonstruckWolf
MemberHe is very concerned about their relations, but he’s also concerned about the perceived action taken on disturbances. This was a punishment grand in name as he said. Since this is a market, I consider he would have preferred less open violence. Merchants first reaction may not be that a thief was slain but a “dangerous nonhuman attacking humans”; violence likely doesn’t ever happen here so everyone is in a state of shock.
Trademaster also deals with things quietly.
As for Baxxid punishments, group shaming is extremely effective. He shall be shamed for 7 days, an unprecedented punishment!
user 485712
BlockedKalgkur will shame himself for far longer than seven days.
The Trademaster does indeed prefer quiet solutions, which is why I think he'll just move the Baxxid guards for a while until everything blows over. Though he's a sneaky bastard, so who knows.
SinnerWhoKeepsTrying
MemberIt's evident that Kalgkur's been around humans enough to know how to read their facial expressions. I imagine the first words to come out of her mouth following this incident are going to shape his attitude toward it.
Whatever she says, I imagine he's going to have a lot of questions to answer.
imagoober
PrivilegedWorse, the Guardmaster is in this strip (panel 3), so I don't really have an excuse for dropping the ball like that. :p

MemberShe looks shocked! But at what? Something tells me Kalgkur went through a colour change hm...Perhaps love struck has caught her gaze.
TarkovKinto
MemberShe is shocked by the sudden bifurcation of a guy in front of her and the tidal wave of blood that erupted from him?
Covargo
MemberRead it in a different way.
thisplacesucks
Memberprolly not fair that he died just for stealing something
Silwerfish
MemberMan got scopped in front of her with a thing she just held in her hands. That will cause some trauma and bad thoughts around them..
TouchTheShark
MemberIt'll be fine. All he did was correct a <despised life error> anyway.
