  • Even after venting his frustration and displeasure, he still cares about Paul's well being. Everyone needs someone like Thomas in there life!

  • Come on, Paul, you promised Thomas you'd fix it. Go ahead, explain to your father that he has crushed you with authority and that you are tired of his constant control.

  • I'm scared that his father will kick him out after he tells him that he loves Tomas. His mother will understand but his dad will be a dad.

We barely know anything about the mom. For all we know, she might just be worse than the dad-- of whom I don't think is really THAT bad. He just seems really old fashioned.

Eh, based on how the father was, it seems pretty clear that he'd tell them to break off from Thomas. If anything, what I'd expect is for Greg to tell Paul to stop seeing Thomas or tell Thomas to stop messing with his son. The real point of contention is not "you're gay and I don't like you." It's "if you're gay, this will hurt our image, because people of our status aren't 'gay.'" I think this actually would make for a more interesting conflict, because it puts the ball entirely in Paul's court. He can either choose the person he thinks he loves and lose his status or choose his status over his boyfriend. I certainly think that's more interesting than the classic "parents kick you out of the house and leave you to your own devices when they found out you aren't straight." Because in the former, Paul controls everything that happens with the relationships and how they proceed. In the latter scenario, the conflict is reduced to who Paul is rather than who Paul wants to be and what he finds important.

  • What meal is that on the table? I see a fish skeleton in the middle, but it looks like a lentil soup that Paul has in front of him.
