One thing I'm sure of is that Gummigoo will appear again, Ragatha said it, Cane likes to reuse NPCs, but he will surely have reset Gummigoo from scratch. It will be as if he had never seen Pomni, like this in an almost infinite loop. It's deeper than it seems, and really sad. This illustration is beautiful, for me it's right in the moment before everything is reset and erased forever only to return to the original state

If you remember the film "Free Guy" and taken that logic (though non-canon to the thought) like maybe bits of his self-aware is still there, Pomni just needs to show him again, and maybe he'll remember. Cause he's possibly out of the many (Other) NPC's that became self-aware of their existence, as to why Caine instantly disintegrated him to prevent something he's keeping secret once more. Cause his behavior and secondary changing of the subject is clearly a sign that Gummigoo is not the only one whose become self-aware.
