The fox just finished beating his African wild dog frenemy at "jaw war," a canon game of tug-of-war characters play with each other in the world of Beastars. He used enough force to pull his friend on top of him, reveling in the intentional awkwardness. Whether that awkwardness is just "bros being bros" or something not quite heterosexual is up to interpretation. Perhaps the characters don't even know. This came out exactly how I imagined it. An amazing job as usual!
These two are background characters from Beastars, and are most prominently featured having a fight, which Legoshi breaks up, in the cafeteria over the fox probably intentionally stomping on his friend's tail as a prank. Their being together in the background several times throughout the anime both before and after the fight suggests they are also friends.
On various wikis the fox is listed as "Kitsune" and the African wild dog is listed as "Lycaon," but that's probably from the Japanese credits listing them generically by species. Despite the dubious accuracy of the names, I'll stick with it since it's easier to have a way to refer to them when tagging.
