  • Still using Windows XP? Man, that IT department there is useless. If they even have one.

Why the low quality? GIFs can be much higher quality than this. There's some serious flickering going on too. But really, stop using GIF in 2024 except when you're using a much more limited color pallette than you are now. A regular video would be 10x higher quality.

The filesize is 12 MB. It's a five second loop. Shut up. You don't like it, use your vast knowledge of data science to make better art. Your only point is gif's obsolescence, but I'd laugh harder if people kept using it just to piss you off.

Edit: Downvoted by poor people with cuban 1mbps internet/people who still use floppy disks for storage lol.
Edit 2: Wait on a second thought, I have no idea what kind of brainrot would cause you to downvote me. GIF is just so shit that a video would be significantly lower filesize while being significantly higher quality. It's a win win, even if you have shit internet/storage
I'm kinda surprised this was even accepted with todays standards, considering there are upload guidelines that says you can't post: "Low quality submissions: Highly visible compression artifacts", which this clearly goes under. Unless the vast majority of you is blind.

there is actually no way you don't understand why people are downvoting you,,you're being insufferable for no real reason. you're allowed to have an opinion on GIFs, but you could type in a way that is much less abrasive with very little effort and save yourself from the scary downvotes.

Whole lotta bitching, not a lot of drawing. Why should the artist give a damn about such an ungrateful 'critique'.

    TL;DR - Womp Womp

So what if it's 12MB? It could be a 12MB video, which would be much higher quality. It could be much smaller too while being much higher quality. GIF is in fact obsolete. It's objectively shit quality except in some niche use cases, which is not this case.

Yeah I know why people downvote me, the reason is it's a furry community, the most toxic place ever. You call me abrasive and shit, but look at yourself, you're not really any better. As can be said for the other guy who replied to me.
Any time you give ANY negative criticism, you get shit upon, that's the nature of E621. People would have downvoted me regardless of how I'd put it.
"no real reason" my ass. I like their art and I appreciate quality, what's so wrong of me to want this artist's art in high quality instead of something that looks like it was rendered on a potato?
It literally goes against the upload guidelines.
People are so fucking complacent, no wonder GIF and VP8 is still around.
Get off your high horses hypocrites.

I actually respect this guy. I left the fandom some 4 to 5 years ago after reaching a decent number of followers in the community. Not gonna hit specifics but it was enough to where I got my name yelled out when people saw me at conventions and the thing that got me to leave was exactly the case he made here. I still greatly respect artists within the community, it's why I'm on this site to begin with. I've supported up and coming artists, fursuit makers, you name it. I single handedly brought people who got less than 200 views to near 20k within a month. But when you peak behind the curtain of how the fandom runs, the whole "positivity", "everyone accepts you" kind of vibe the whole thing is built on is quickly thrown out the window. The guy has an opinion, and is more than valid to it. I desperately want this fandom to be more than it is but it doesn't work when people constantly bash on others based on simple disagreements.

I know- not the place to vent. It'd just be nice to see people realize that they don't even need to see things from other's perspectives. They just need to ask themselves, "is this really worth me stressing about?". And that goes for both sides.
