News: Feb 26, 2025 Show

Feb 26th:A new bill in Arizona is making its way through the Senate that would force sites like e621 to implement mandatory age verification for all users—or face potential lawsuits. This system would require third-party vendors to verify every user’s age through a government database. Not only is this a massive violation of privacy, but it also introduces serious risks, including identity theft through phishing schemes and other malicious methods. Worse still, we would have no control over ensuring that user data is permanently deleted after verification.

Since e621 operates out of Arizona, this law would almost certainly impact us if it passes. If you want to help ensure that we can continue serving you without being forced to collect personal information, we urge you to contact Arizona’s senators and ask them to vote NO on this bill.

Please help spread the word about this issue and encourage others to take action.
Further information on the bill itself can be found at the Free Speech Coalition: https://action.freespeechcoalition.com/bill/arizona-hb-2112/

  • snuff aside, I think the main issue with this is her eyes. They look *too* big and oddly extra detailed compared to the rest of the artwork and it's got this weird uncanny valley effect to the whole thing.

    Or maybe...
We think it's low quality and we dislike the content. Somehow these gore/snuff pics tend to be on the bad end of the quality spectrum.

This one? It looks like garbage.

Angry or snarky comments get you yelled at or even warned. The dislike button is the only way people have to say that they don't like something here.

I wish people remembered this, I just came from the gore tag and almost everything is downvoted by the hundreds because people are incapable of blacklisting.

Or you just blacklist the tag and move on. This isn't Reddit or Imgur.

  • Kinda sucks that this is lowkey pretty accurate to how real situations can go south if a female officer is caught off-guard while alone

Well that's because there's only 1 way you can end up looking at a properly tagged picture that has an entire genre of art you don't like and that is by not blacklisting it yet still clicking on it despite not liking it. Sure, there are pictures here and there that aren't properly tagged and there are pictures that may look like something else from the thumbnail, and sometimes there overlap. But most pictures are not this case, so what is it accomplished by coming to this post that very clearly states what it's about only to publicly complain about it, if not as some kind of political mobilization against the type of content itself? Do you expect the mods to change their mind and ban this sort of work, or for governments to prosecute and punish artists who publish this kind of content? If not you are just wasting time and torturing yourself, and no one is going to like hearing you explain that in great detail.

There are also other ways to say you don't like a post without being angry or snarky. And even getting yelled at for one such comment isn't going to affect you in a material way either.

That said I don't agree with the low quality statement either. There are multiple layers to a picture's "quality" both objective and subjective and there exist many reasons to dislike a picture beyond just the subject matter or any specific details on their own. By definition it is an "I don't like this" button. And if you think a picture is low quality then the proper course of action would be to report it to have it deleted for not meeting that requirement.

I personally think this picture is kinda ugly, but I also think that's how it was supposed to look: all the artist's work is ugly, with lots of ugly details like skin folds, wrinkles, saggy nipples, etc. and I don't find any technical flaws worth noting otherwise.
