  • Almost as if the sales from SMB2 were enough to finish the surgery. Then again, it was never brought up outside the SMB2 manual to my knowledge. Almost as if Nintendo wanted to forget that little fact. For all we know, he coud be a she by now and no one is telling us. Either that or Birdo likes to play both sides of the field at the same time.

    Either way, Yoshi isn't complaining.

In the most recent (Japanese-only) installation of Super Mario Bros, Birdo gets in trouble for going into the girl's bathroom.

    Hmm...

  • Obviously, none of you people have ever played Super Mario RPG for the SNES. There's a place where you can find a Birdo guarding a nest full of eggs...which implies Birdo is a species, not a single creature. :P

  • Even in japan, Nintendo in every game since Super Mario 2/Doki Doki states stuff like "Catherine (Birdo's japanese name) feels (wrongly) that it is a female", "It appears to be Yoshi's girlfriend, but is actually his boyfriend!? He participates in the race with eggs." (Mario Kart) Birdo's cross-gender status has been a "thing" with nintendo of japan for quite a awhile, and since I grew out of the kiddie games, I can't say whether or not the american company continue the tradition, but yeah, Cathy's a dude who think's he a female.

  • What if birdo as a species always has male and female parts like flowers and snails and they need only find another one to mate and germinate their eggs

  • I don't care what sex Birdo is, I was just thinking about how Yoshi here is actually performing cunnilingus.
