I would think they could take pictures anywhere anytime with them having cameras for eyes.

I always like these posts by Vader-San. They really do feel fleshed out as a species.

The cameras are meant to work like normal eyes, but I don't think there's anything which would prevent them from working as normal photographic cameras.

This seems to be a departure from previous lore in that they are completely a hive-mind nanobot/nanotech entity. They're more akin to common constructs now instead of a synthetic-organic entity that can alter its own configuration on the fly and alter its physical matrix to adapt to its environment or role. The hive mind nanobot composition would have made them more akin to organic lifeforms which are themselves a non-reconfigurable hive mind of cells. I was also under the impression that this hive mind made the minds, personalities, beliefs, and so on inviolate from reprogramming. Now all you have to do is swap out the CPU and you swap out the Synth's "soul." These revelations are rather saddening. Furry-centric C3PO's.

THat's not what the original lore even said. In the first page of the species ref sheet (https://e621.net/posts/2077528?pool_id=19035) they are described as having an internal skeleton, pneumatic muscles, tendons and energy storing material (lower left of the page) indicating they are built more like very complex robots than entities composed of nanite goo.

On the second species ref page (https://e621.net/posts/2077532?pool_id=19035) where the nanites are introduced they are described in a fasion that frames them less as the main component of the body but more as a part of the overall form needed for maitnance and changing ones form. Also the page says that the nanites can take up to several months to fully change the synth's form, so they could never change them on the fly.

On top of that, given that this anatomical breakdown was released on July 15th of 2019, and the origionial synth species sheet was released on Feb 16 2019, it's reasonable to argue that vader-san was simply adding information not retconing information.

It makes zero sense for the screen to have HUD elements, if the robot doesn't have eyes. If you're completely a robot, you'd just...overlay these HUD elements into your own vision.. you're a a robot.

It's probably something to do with hard ware design. The video feed from the cameras could be feed directly into the central processor, with no inbetween you could use to inject HUD elements, and due to security measures a hud system can't feed directly into the brain or be loaded into the brain. Alternatively the hud system may depend on systems that can't be directly connected to the brain, either for saftey reasons or due to hard ware design.

if a "sex drive" exists, in the same way the sensor chips work... would it be in the face, or lower?
