Feb 26th:A new bill in Arizona is making its way through the Senate that would force sites like e621 to implement mandatory age verification for all users—or face potential lawsuits. This system would require third-party vendors to verify every user’s age through a government database. Not only is this a massive violation of privacy, but it also introduces serious risks, including identity theft through phishing schemes and other malicious methods. Worse still, we would have no control over ensuring that user data is permanently deleted after verification.

Since e621 operates out of Arizona, this law would almost certainly impact us if it passes. If you want to help ensure that we can continue serving you without being forced to collect personal information, we urge you to contact Arizona’s senators and ask them to vote NO on this bill.

    This is why I keep saying that e621 is not a pornsite, there's already a fuckload of hentai and rule34 websites anyone can go to.
    e621 is furry artwork website, so changing the mindset of what you coom to into what furry stuff you like, makes the content on the site as whole better overall.

    TBF, elves and humanoids aren't really focus of the website, they're simply allowed, but last time envelope was pushed, we got the "gem ban" to reduces this content from being uploaded.

    Also 15 years ago, sites was under differend management and the old staff basically allowed everything they happened to like, so if it was furry artist who annoyed admin, it was deleted, but funny animal gifs that were uploaded by admin friends were perfectly fine.

    Just that the way things are currently handled, posts are either approved or deleted, so there needs to be that defined line which is on our uploading guidelines which does currently see elves ears as deviation from human only content.
    I have spoken how it would be nice to have like soft deletion that technically acceptable content could still be here, but it's just pushed on the site like some youtube alghorithm thing or twitter shadowban, which would desensitize uploading said content here, even if accepted.
