News: Feb 26, 2025 Show

Feb 26th:A new bill in Arizona is making its way through the Senate that would force sites like e621 to implement mandatory age verification for all users—or face potential lawsuits. This system would require third-party vendors to verify every user’s age through a government database. Not only is this a massive violation of privacy, but it also introduces serious risks, including identity theft through phishing schemes and other malicious methods. Worse still, we would have no control over ensuring that user data is permanently deleted after verification.

Since e621 operates out of Arizona, this law would almost certainly impact us if it passes. If you want to help ensure that we can continue serving you without being forced to collect personal information, we urge you to contact Arizona’s senators and ask them to vote NO on this bill.

Please help spread the word about this issue and encourage others to take action.
Further information on the bill itself can be found at the Free Speech Coalition: https://action.freespeechcoalition.com/bill/arizona-hb-2112/

Jan 7th: Small update to the Uploading Guidelines today: We now no longer allow paintovers of AI generated content. Or in other words AI generated content that has been edited to some degree by humans.

We still have a Discord server, come talk to us!

Pretty sure this is ai assisted

HiveModeration says it is testing to be 88.6% AI work. I would be curious to know how this got posted to FA with their anti-AI policy. There are other tests we can do to find out for sure, but first pass test raises suspicion

The Red, Blue, and Green channels do have a different appearance though.

  • Artist was posting stuff close to this level in lighting composition 6 years ago well before A.I. so it's really hard to say. ...It's just odd that they have so few contributions overall to gauge it by (and fairly inconsistent knee joint anatomy)

  • I see nothing in this picture that is better explained by AI than it being hand drawn, and until anyone else can point to such a discrepancy, or if you don’t know how to tell, you shouldn’t be accusing an artist of using AI.

From what i know most of the sites and programs that are used to test for something being AI are pretty much useless since they usually have a high percentage of being completely wrong

You're trying to be derogatory and snide to puff yourself up, but this is really the fatal weakness of the performative anti-AI hivemind. At the end of the day, it really is all just images. If the image is of sufficient quality, the rest is just semantics. Useless psychological hangups. Strangers trying to control other strangers on the internet by posting empty words. Why spend days or weeks producing a single high-fidelity asset, when machine tools allow you to just produce more cool shit faster with less input cost?

Of course, this "discussion" is pointless, people have drawn their battle lines and won't change their minds - but ultimately, I think the hardliners are just going to get outpaced and left behind. The tools are already ludicrously powerful and getting better exponentially, and doing things purely by hand is just too taxing. Humans are smart like that. We make cool shit which allows us to make more cool shit better. But you won't understand that in your lifetime. You'll just have to be left behind.

    Ok 👌

  • It wouldn't surprise me if some artists would decide to draw in a style an AI would, just to troll people.
Hell, afaik modern AI is getting worse! Probably because AI made content is accidentally fed to the AIs, as no human or program can detect that stuff accurately anymore. Not to mention AI poisoning tools, like Nightshade and Glaze, that could also have had an effect on them!

  • Exceedingly unlikely to be AI. If AI was used at all, which it probably wasn't, this is a full paintover, or an extremely high effort pic with maximal attention to detail. The specific patterns of lines, colors, and shading seen throughout this pic are very difficult to replicate, even with a model trained on an artist's style - and they are consistent throughout the image.

Given another recent post by this artist, I am no longer sure about this. This pic has been VERY thoroughly corrected and repainted if AI was used.

Because using AI to create drawings instead of humans making it kills the whole purpose of art. Art is about the limitless possibilities of human imagination, not cold calculations made by a machine. But to quote you (which ironically describes your mindset perfectly), "You won't understand that in your lifetime"
