News: Feb 26, 2025 Show

Feb 26th:A new bill in Arizona is making its way through the Senate that would force sites like e621 to implement mandatory age verification for all users—or face potential lawsuits. This system would require third-party vendors to verify every user’s age through a government database. Not only is this a massive violation of privacy, but it also introduces serious risks, including identity theft through phishing schemes and other malicious methods. Worse still, we would have no control over ensuring that user data is permanently deleted after verification.

Since e621 operates out of Arizona, this law would almost certainly impact us if it passes. If you want to help ensure that we can continue serving you without being forced to collect personal information, we urge you to contact Arizona’s senators and ask them to vote NO on this bill.

Please help spread the word about this issue and encourage others to take action.

Comic for March 12, 2025: Maeve and Reed 2 - Politeness Paradox
Sketch of the 1250th page of Twokinds.

Transcript

Maeve: Thank you for helping me, Miss Reed, ma'am.

Reed: You know, you can just call me Alice.

Maeve: Alice?

Reed: That's my name. Alice Reed!

Maeve: Um…

Reed: What's wrong? Oh, Keidran usually have just one name, right? Plus their tribe?

Maeve: I-It's not that. I know how human names work, but…

Adira: Maeve, humans have two names, and they're very picky about them. Never call a grown up by their first name.

Maeve: M-mom said I shouldn't…

Adira: Maeve, never talk back to a guard! Be polite and do what they say!

Adira: Also you're in big trouble for that bad word, young lady!

Maeve: NYA!

Maeve: (thoughts) How do you know?! Wait… those two things were the opposite!

Maeve: (thoughts) Which one do I listen to?! Uh… um… mrow!!!

Reed: Maeve! Maeve! Calm down, it's okay! It's fine! You can keep calling me Miss Reed! I'm not going to get mad either way, alright?

Maeve: Oh… Really?

Reed: Yes! I promise!

Reed: (thoughts) Woah, she's a nervous one. I was just trying to make her more at ease…

Reed: (thoughts) I really am just terrible with kids.
