As for the brightness, it's more that the picture is set in a very dark room lit only by a dim lamp so the exposure of a fully lot room comes through as almost blinding by comparison. Doing this helps me reduce the contrast of the husband against the doorway so that your eye is not drawn there immediately, and it silhouettes the female more effectively.

And it's not unfarfetched for an artist to release a controversial piece of artwork, see the 100 or so fans come out and clamor for more, and feel encouraged to go along the same trend. Only to look at the 100 fans voicing out the opposite and disregard them as naysayers. We all choose to be influenced by what we inwardly want in the first place. But I dunno, maybe an internal change is happening within you; More and more pieces that I'm seeing have had strong emotional connotations.

That's the thing about opinions; you can't please everybody. Sometimes you just have to ignore those who don't like it, because usually they are just there to complain. Nobody is forced into looking at these pictures, there are other artists that they can watch as well. It's good that you have your own opinion, but so does Zaush. He shouldn't have to be told what he can't draw because a group of people said that he shouldn't. If the world could learn to respect other people's opinions, then it would be a better place.
