Femukki

Character was suggested by furrycheetah , but belongs to femukki if I understand correctly?

So, I bought some new brushes recently. Turns out proper brushes can make quite the difference, and I think the paper I'm using helps too.

It's a little hard to explain exactly what's going on, but basically if I tried to wet down a previously applied (but dried) layer of paint, it would pick it up and do all kinds of icky things to it. I could avoid that by simply painting on dry paper, but that meant other than the very first layer I was stuck with hard edges. That's why you saw me switch to a sort of 'cel-shaded' look a while back.

But with these new brushes, I can wet down an area even if it's got relatively dark paint under it without picking up the paint and creating icky blotches. This allows me to paint in layers but still keep the individual layers smoothly blended, and on top of all that I can do fur texture last which just makes everything easier.

Basically, the results look like this, and I think I like it! What do you guys think? Once again, excuse any wonky anatomy, this was drawn fairly quickly so I could practice painting, but the colouring I'm quite chuffed with. I'm not 100% certainly I'll be able to do this in every picture, so I can't say I'll be switching to it just yet, more practice is needed. But if I can, we may see yet another change up. x3
