The shinx evo line is based off of lions. They have rounded ears and have manes in the later 2 evolutions... though the females have the manes as well.

I saw it more of a dog as a kid.

And let me tell you; you have no idea how awkward it was when I was told Luxray was a lion. I had two Luxray-based OCs up to that point, they behaved like dogs.

I eventually made it canon they acted like dogs because they're both pretty huge derps, and unverified aspergers for both of them. Seriously.
