    What is this from? O.o

The little green character is an unnamed "Terrible Terror" and the black one is Toothless, a "Night Fury"... and he's not really toothless. They're retractible :D

  • It's also part of the plot development in which the main character, Hiccup, learns that dragons while fireproof on the outside, are not so fireproof on the inside.

I liked the discovery channel's indepth look into "If dragons were real" which explained they would most likely have a hydrogen or helium producing organ seperate of their stomach, which ignites when mixed with an acidic venom to create the fire, and how that organ would also enable their large forms to fly... until they breathed fire. Which they then had to wait to fly again.

    Check out the bombardier beetle.
They literally shoot rocket fuel out of their ass.
Doesn't mean they're immune to combustion themselves.

  • I didn't like that, Tiger. They played, as best as I can tell, fast and loose with their lift bladders.

And it was hydrogen-liberating organs. If a dragon had a *helim* producing organ, they'd be shooting nuclear-hot fusion plasma. Which explains Toothless's fucknuts-crazy firepower and having the climb rate and overall power-to-weight ratio of a modern fighter jet.

  • So, how long before we start tinkering with the genetics of small lizards, giving them bat wings and the ability to spit binary-explosive fluids?

well not really. if you actually pay attention to the movie you can tell that instead of litterally "making fire" they produce a combustable gas from some internal organ and then ignite the gas while blowing it out of their mouth. so they really arent meant to take it internaly. henceforth, not stupid.

and i hope so! we need some new dangerous species to liven up this boring world. but who needs genetically enhanced dragons when you can find real ones :D

Er, it's the format the picture is in. Thus why it's tagged as such. It's notable because gifs can be animated. (I think a png format can be too, but it's uncommon currently.)
