Crop top describes any kind of shirt that is made to only cover the upper torso, revealing the wearer's midriff.
Crop tops can take a wide variety of forms, meaning a single garment can be tagged (ideally) as both crop_top and another tag describing the specific type of shirt, e.g. tank top, camisole, polo shirt, t-shirt etc.
The amount a "top" is "cropped" can also vary, from only giving a peek of the wearer's navel when the crop top is very long, to being cropped extremely high, showing off the underside of the wearer's breasts or chest. Crop tops may be worn with shorts or pants with a very high waist, partially or fully covering what would otherwise be bared by the crop top.
Important Tagging Notes
- crop_top should NOT be applied to...
- Bandeau inherently — and tube tops almost always — involve a bared midriff, they are not "cropped" tops
- Bikini tops, bras, and sports bras are not shirts
- Tied shirts are full length shirts that are tied off to expose the midriff, they are not cropped
