Art that applies the distinct visual style of another artist, medium, art genre, or most often, a specific piece of media (cartoon, anime, video game, etc.) to an unrelated piece of work.
Style parody is often done for comedic effect or to depict an unlikely or bizarre crossover of art style and content (a character that is normally drawn in a simplistic, toony style in a gritty, realistic art style). Note that the image doesn't need to reference or parody the property it is a emulating.
Style parodies can include...
- art made to look like posters, book covers, or comic book covers
- fake screenshots, usually with captioned dialogue text
- characters rendered in low poly to resemble early 3d video games (e.g. graphics of the Nintendo 64 or Sony Playstation)
- characters rendered in pixel art to emulate the look of 8bit or 16bit graphics
Style parodies of video games may involve game elements such as the user interface being visible, text boxes for dialogue, health bars etc.

This describes a piece made to emulate a specific piece of formal art, while sometimes emulating of the style of the artist, these are not necessarily style parodies
