The Butt is a pair of rounded masses on the posterior of the pelvis - buttocks - which are made up of skin, fat, and the gluteal muscles (hence the term "glutes"). The buttocks assist with balance, with walking/running, as well as acting as a cushion and allowing for upright posture when sitting. The butt is particularly prominent on humans - and thus are always drawn on anthro and humanoid characters.
Butts have a prominent role in sexual attraction and body aesthetics, conversely, they are a subject of comedy and amusement in other contexts.
"Butt" should be tagged if a character's butt is present and visible, regardless of whether it is covered by clothing, partially exposed, or fully naked.
Rating:
- An image featuring a butt can be rated Safe.
- If the butt is the focus of the image, or the character is presenting it provocatively, the image should be rated Questionable.
- Exposed genitals or anus require an Explicit rating.

- While "Butt" serves as the umbrella tag for all sizes, and not specifically intended to describe any size of butt, this tag alone is used for nondescript "average" butts
- An "average" butt has with defined buttocks, with shading and/or lines clearly dividing the cheeks from upper thigh; when a character is bent over, the shape of the buttocks is clearly distinct from the thighs (see example 5), unlike a character with a small butt
- "Butt" is also used alone when the size of the character's buttocks are hard to determine or describe within an image, such as with feral characters, or with humanoid/anthro characters in poses where the buttocks are stretched and flattened
