nipple tuft
A tuft of fur that partially or completely covers a character's nipples and areola.
- "Full coverage" nipple tufts may be represented by subtle lines or distinct, dense patches of fur on the character's breasts or pecs where their nipples would be. Full coverage nipple tufts are the most commonly seen.
- "Partial cover" nipple tufts are dense patches of fur framing the areolae, sometimes partially covering them, while the nipples are usually completely visible.
In some cases, a nipple tuft may be rounded in a way that outlines where the areolae would be, or even creates "fur nipples" - rounded nubs matching the surrounding fur. Characters with bodies that are only partially covered by fur (e.g. an animal humanoid, or a shaved anthro) may have nipple tufts. If the character's nipples are completely hidden by nipple tufts, this is a form of natural censorship.
Not to be confused with...
- nipple outlines - nipples showing through clothing
- hair covering nipples - a long haired character's locks fall in front of their nipples.
- chest tuft - a thick patch of fur in the middle of a character's chest
