History: Aten was the second daughter of Vershira and the younger sister of Kyr. A quiet but curious child, Aten was a stark opposite to Kyr's bold and stubborn demeanor. Both of them grew up in Vershira's small colony, a place where drones were subjugated under rule by the colony queen while potential queens were strictly raised and educated. Kyr took to their mother's conditioning well and perpetuated the same treatment to the colony drones while Aten couldn't bring herself to do the same. This bothered Vershira greatly, taking to beating Aten while young as she refused to follow in her mother's footsteps of glorified slave ownership. As Aten grew, both physically and figuratively, both her mother and sister started to fear her given her size, coloration, and disposition, resulting in many instances of being withheld from events or other things out of fear and/or embarrassment for how Aten was developing. Over time Aten earned the respect of the drones after smuggling extra food and wares to those in the most need, later helping them to organize a revolt against the current regime. Unfortunately Kyr found out her plan and reported what details she had to Vershira. Vershira, upon discovering this news, attempted to attack Aten through her personal guards. Her guards had been part of Aten's plan, however, and instead turned against Vershira, who now had only Kyr to protect her.

Despite this, Vershira herself closed in on Aten in an effort to attack and exile her from the colony grounds. Aten called back the drones on her side to keep Vershira from possibly harming them and met Vershira's attack head on. Aten, being both younger and larger, eventually overpowered Vershira in a brawl in the main room of the central tree. Vershira was badly injured, but forced Kyr to stand down from taking on Aten lest she suffer the same fate and lose her heir to their colony grounds.

Aten, having bested her mother, stormed away and left with the majority of Vershira's drones. The drones - mostly comprised of her brothers - helped Aten recover from the fight with Vershira as they all ventured southwest. They eventually found and settled into an empty grove of stone trees to make new lives for themselves the way they felt it should be, and where they remain to this day. Through Series 5 (It Takes One), Aten is 32.
