Species: shoebill
The shoebill, also known as whalehead, is a very large stork-like bird.
Its signature feature, as well as its namesake, is its huge, bulbous bill, which is a pale yellow or a light tan often with erratic greyish markings. Its bill is the third longest bill among living birds after pelicans and large storks, and can best pelicans in bill circumference. Their dark coloured legs are fairly long, and their feet are exceptionally large, likely assisting the species to stand on aquatic vegetation while hunting. The plumage of adults tends to be blue-grey with darker grey flight feathers. Juveniles have similar colors, but are darker grey with a small amounts of brown.
