building destruction
post #589521 post #3061924 post #1601783
Building destruction describes a building actively being damaged or destroyed. For a building that has already been damaged, use damaged building (if it is mostly still standing) or ruins (if most of the building has been destroyed).
This tag is by far most commonly used for macro characters smashing into, stepping on, punching, sitting on, or otherwise using their body to damage buildings around them. It can also apply to a character destroying a building through body size growth, or through expansion of specific body parts. This tag can also apply to characters using heavy weapons, magic or superpowers to destroy a building.
Note: Damage that is entirely localized to internal structures should use more specific tags instead such as damaged wall, damaged ceiling, or damaged floor.
"Building Destruction" vs "Damaged Building"
While easily confused, these two tags are intended to describe related but distinct concepts:
Building Destruction
A character or force actively causing a building to be notably damaged, especially in a way that compromises the building's structural integrity, or completely destroys it
Damaged Building
A building that has sustained any amount of damage. This tag can be more specifically used for posts where the act that caused the damage is not seen, or the aftermath of building destruction is shown after the act — e.g. a house in the background of a scene, with a large hole in the roof; a comic where a character breaks through the roof, followed by an exterior shot of the building with a hole in its roof.
