Sentient fat describes after vore scenarios where a digested prey character has their consciousness, spirit, or soul trapped or stored as a part of the predator's body fat. Sentient fat is usually seen alongside weight gain or expansion, the character's intangible consciousness joining the fat that their physical body added to the predator. In some cases, the prey becoming sentient fat is a way of storing them, before they are reformed.

Sentient fat can be depicted in several ways, using some combination of the elements below:

• Speech or thought bubbles connected to parts of the predator's body with dialogue that can be implied by context to be the prey thinking about their fate, or reacting to touch
• Dialogue (clearly not being spoken by the predator character), usually around fattened or bloated parts of the predator's body

• The prey's face appearing in a bubble or drawn near parts of the predator's body, reacting to external stimuli (such as the pred character slapping their own butt)
• This can also be done with a a "tattoo" of the prey's face on the pred's body
• The prey character appearing to cartoonishly stretch through the surface of the predator's body, with a face imprint and/or hand imprints
