pool toy
Recreational props, and flotation devices designed for relaxation, commonly used in swimming scenes. Most are inflatable, but others such as the pool noodle are made out of foam, and the term encompasses a variety of other plastic or rubber objects designed for use in the pool. Certain swimming aids such as water wings do not fall under this term, and more accurately fall under the flotation device tag along with life rings.
Props designed for use in the pool that are not inflatable are usually brightly colored to maximize visibility in the water.
General guidelines
- The primary difference between a balloon and, an inflatable pool toy is one is designed to float in the air, and the other is designed to float in the water. Situations where it is ambiguous tend to default to pool toy over balloon, but perhaps it may make sense to not choose either in the case of living examples.
- Balloons do not typically have nozzles. This distinguishes them from other inflatables.
- Some inflatables are better described as inflatable sex dolls than pool toys.
For animate pool toys use living inflatable.
