June 12 is Loving Day, created to commemorate the anniversary of 1967 United States Supreme Court decision of Loving v. Virginia, which struck down all anti-miscegenation laws left in the U.S. Anti-miscegenation laws in the U.S. banned interracial marriages, but were deemed unconstitutional after interracial couple Mildred Loving née Jeter and Richard Loving brought suit against the state of Virginia.
Loving Day is the largest interracial holiday in the US despite not being officially recognized at this time.
