"Death. And I don't mean it metaphorically or rhetorically or poetically or theoretically or any other fancy way. I AM DEATH. STRAIGHT UP! And I have come for you, Puss in Boots."
-Death revealing his true identity to Puss in Boots.

Death, also referred to as the Wolf, El Lobo, and The Big Bad Wolf is the overarching antagonist of DreamWorks' 43rd full-length animated film, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.

Death is a large, silvery-white, bipedal wolf with an elongated snout, sharp teeth, and bright red eyes that glow when he's excited. He wears a black riding cloak with a built-in hood, and brown trousers under the cloak. He carries a pair of razor-sharp sickles that can be combined at the handle and extended to form a double-bladed glaive.

Death is the actual personification of death. He cannot be bargained with, defeated, or escaped and relentlessly stalks and taunts Puss in Boots throughout the film, no matter where he goes. Naturally, he has personally witnessed each and every one of Puss in Boots' previous eight deaths which were caused by Puss in Boots' arrogant delusion that his extra lives made him immortal. It was bad enough that as a cat Puss in Boots could cheat death 8 times, but to go about each of his lives with narcissism and reckless abandon made Death so furious that he decided to manifest as a physical form and claim Puss in Boots' last life before he could squander it.
