telepathy
The ability to communicate through psychic means — projecting speech, images or ideas into the mind of another person without speaking physically. Telepathy also describes the ability to read minds — which may or may not be shown alongside communicating telepathically.
This tag can describe a character demonstrating telepathy (even in the context of a character saying they are telepathic, and reacting to what they see or hear), a character seeing imagery from the mind of another character (usually drawn inside of a thought bubble style frame) and reacting or commenting on it.
Ways Telepathic Dialogue Can Be Depicted
- No matter the "container" for the dialogue, distinct colouring, translucence, or a glowing aura around the bubble/box are common shorthand for telepathic dialogue
- tailless speech bubbles, usually near the "speaking" character's head, or indicated to be the character projecting speech at another or the viewer
- Distinctly drawn bubbles/boxes containing the dialogue, sometimes with tails emerging from the "speaking" character's head
- traditional thought bubbles
- the telepathic character reacting to another character's thoughts
- a telepathic character "speaking" in thought bubbles, sometimes with a response by the other character in a speech bubble
- conversations between two characters entirely within thought bubbles
