the emperor (tarot)
One of the Major Arcana defined in tarot. In typical portrayals, the Emperor is a person in a throne adorned with symbols of masculine power and authority like rams' heads, and holding an ankh and orb. Behind the emperor is a nigh-impenetrable mountain range, and a tiny river flowing through.
In cartomancy, the upright Emperor arcanum is interpreted as authority, establishment, structure, and a father figure.
The reversed Emperor arcanum is interpreted as domination, excessive control, a lack of discipline, and inflexibility.
