The The Brothers of Death or The Brothers Death are an overarching antagonist in the SCP Foundation Mythos and the arch nemesis of SCP-1440: The Old Man from Nowhere.

The Brothers Death are 3 Brothers who personify death in different forms.

The Youngest Brother is named Yama. He is the Small Death, embodying the death of individual humans via preventable disease. His most prized possession was his glass which contained The Elixir of Life. One drop could completely heal even the sickest man, woman, or child of their illness banishing him. He has the appearance of the stereotypical Grim Reaper, being a skeleton with 4 eyes wearing a black hooded cloak.

The Second Brother is named Yulü. He is the Great Death, embodying the death of human civilizations via war and conflict. His most prized possession was his deck which contained The Cards of Fate. Through the use of these cards one can control the destinies of mankind, preventing wars before they even start or deciding their outcomes and death tolls. He has the appearance of a living flame with his head surrounded by 2 Halos.

The Eldest Brother is named Kshitigarbha. His is the All-Death, embodying the inevitable death of all things, not just humans, via random and large scale calamities. His most prized possession is his sack: The Sack of All-Death. The Sack has the ability to forcibly contain anything within it. Any calamity, natural disaster, monstrosity, or evil, will be imprisoned within the Sack without fail for all time. He has the appearance of The Knight of Death, wearing a black tabard, helm, and armor and wielding a massive scythe.

At some point hundreds of years ago, the Brothers Death lost several card games to SCP-1440. At first, the soldier wanted just to return to the land of the living, but then he in his hubris wanted to humiliate the brothers, forcing them to give him immortality and their treasures. As a result, The Brothers cursed SCP-1440, any man made objects that he comes into contact with will malfunction, decay, or otherwise fall apart within 3 days of being withing SCP-1440's presence. Buildings will collapse around him if he seeks shelter, cities will be struck by disaster while he travel through them. Clothes and other simple tools will inevitably disintegrate. After misusing and wasting the treasures the Old Man from Nowhere was doomed to wander in the hopes of capturing the Eldest Brother and forcing him to take his immortality using the Sack.
