A small detachable aircraft or spacecraft that is connected to a larger structure, vehicle and other machines that is meant to be used in emergencies by personnel to rapidly escape from an imminent danger. It is similar in concept to a lifeboat but for non-naval use. These vehicles are often single-use and are usually not designed for extended travel.
