The AV Famicom (ニューファミコン), officially known as the New Famicom (ニューファミコン) is a revised version of the Family Computer (Famicom) console released by Nintendo in 1993. Outside of Japan, a slightly redesigned version was released as the New-Style NES (also known as the Toploader NES). The console features removable controller ports that were previously used for NES consoles, and uses the same video port found on the Super Famicom and Super NES and future Nintendo consoles up until the GameCube although the AV Famicom only supports composite video. An RF adapter was sold separately.
