disembodied hand
A hand, or arm that visibly doesn't attach to, or associate with a body within the scene. The hand may be coming from offscreen.
Not to be confused with
- detached_hand - A hand that can be detached, and reattached.
- floating_hands - Hands that are still associated with a body visible in the scene.
- severed_hand - Amputated hands do not count towards this tag.
Categories
- ghost_hands - Translucent / magical hands fall under this term.
Character tagging
Disembodied hands count as characters.
Two hands generally equates to one character, but sometimes the hand position will suggest multiple different characters. Check thumb positions. If the artist is nice, they will color code the hands.
These values assume one full bodied character as the focus.
- 1-2 hands - Usually duo, but might be trio.
- 3 hands - Usually trio, but might just be a group.
- 4 hands or more - Always group, and might be a trio.
Other disembodied parts do not count as separate characters if they can be associated with one or more disembodied hands.
- Almost always solo_focus, but sometimes duo_focus, or trio_focus will apply.
- Except for very unusual circumstances, a disembodied hand will never be in focus compared to a figure with more details showing, or more important details (a headshot portrait is more important than a handshot)
- Often seen with a disembodied_penis
