An antagonist from the Kirby series, King Dedede's a gluttonous, penguin-like creature who lords over Dream Land. Nobody (besides the Waddle Dees) really respects his rule, though, as his title is entirely self-proclaimed. He's powerful in his own right but has a tendency to get possessed by beings more powerful than him and often needs to be rescued by his frenemies.

Anime

King Dedede's role in the anime is drastically different from his role in the games. In the anime, while he still has positive aspects to his personality, he rules over Dreamland in a manner similar to a dictator, terrorizing his own people on an almost daily basis. He has an anime-exclusive assistant, Escargoon, who is a anthropomorphic purple snail. He frequently gets angry at Kirby due to how much the people of Cappy Town adore them, and will do anything to get the people to like him instead by feeding them his propaganda, and usually silencing the kids who fight against it.
